NATURE RULES
Maybe we were craving a clean slate, stress free, back to nature environment after a few crazy and for too many sad years. The answer seems to lie in the Organic Modern style that is sweeping the design world.
It’s got a foot in Pan-Asian motifs and who wouldn’t want to be carried away to a tropical respite. It also has deep roots in early modernism. Frank Lloyd Wright built homes around boulders and running water and used the clay on-site for building materials. Natural materials, of rattan, wicker, and caning abound. Leather, wood, stone and clay are central. Wood slats or fluted shapes are everywhere on paneled walls and furniture, with rounded edges of tamboured wood on cabinets and kitchen islands.
The style incorporates, natural “organic” shapes, curvy furniture is on trend. Colors are neutral or nature inspired. Grey is out, beige is back. Taupes and stone colors along with soft greens, dusty pinks and terra cotta work with Organic Modern. But overall, the styling is modern, it is clean, it is a bit sparse or minimal. And it is not precious, while it can look expensive and even formal, it is very comfortable.
